A Biplane Lab for Neurointerventional Radiology

A biplane lab is used for performing minimally invasive procedures. With this approach, doctors provide treatment using a catheter. This is a thin tube that is the width of a spaghetti strand.

Doctors gently thread the catheter from the femoral artery in the thigh up to the brain. They may use this technique for treating strokes and other neurological disorders. Benefits for patients can include shorter hospital stays, reduced recovery times and less visible surgical scarring.*

Within our biplane angiography suite, a team of healthcare specialists perform specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They treat patients who have complex aneurysms, richly vascularized brain tumors and many other neurological conditions. Other procedures include:

  • Angiography
  • Angioplasty
  • Arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
  • AV Fistula
  • Carotid artery angioplasty stenting
  • Cerebral angiography
  • Embolizations
  • IVC filter placement
  • Kyphoplasty
  • PICC line chemotherapy ports
  • Thrombolytic therapy
  • Uterine fibroid embolization

Conditions We Treat

Stroke

Within hours of initial diagnosis, patients are given a personalized plan. Patients receive care in units dedicated to stroke care. There, they receive the medical attention needed for the best possible outcome.

Patients also get support for the physical, emotional and lifestyle issues related to stroke. We help stroke survivors continue on their road to recovery. Inpatient rehabilitation, including specialized neurological therapy services, is available.

Aneurysms

Endovascular surgery is used to treat patients with an aneurysm or weakening of a blood vessel wall. Endovascular surgery is performed within a blood vessel. This is unlike open surgery, which repairs vessels from the outside through an incision and opening in the bone.

Brain Tumors

Skull base neurosurgery typically involves removing the bone at the base of the skull. This is done to expose the tumor or aneurysm with minimal contact with the brain. Ear, nose and throat doctors and neurosurgeons can remove tumors through the nose. This helps avoid the facial or skull incisions associated with major surgery.
