Letter of Thanks to the Southern Nevada Community From The Valley Health System

Karla Perez, Regional Vice President of The Valley Health System, thanks the people of Southern Nevada for their amazing support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

May 4, 2020

To our incredible Southern Nevada Community:

You are extraordinary beyond words. We never dreamed your outpouring of love and support for our patients, first responders and hospitals after #1October would be surpassed, but you — our community, businesses, agencies, organizations, schools, professional sports teams, Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and Nellis AFB — have once again shown your true colors in support of front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your generosity – beyond words for prayers; personal protection donations; masks; meals; inspirational signs, posts and artwork; and providing our employees special access hours to area businesses, hotel rooms and special services when they are juggling so much.

Your commitment to helping others – to our friends and neighbors who continued to help our community move forward by manning retail businesses, grocery stores and pharmacies; delivering supplies, medication, equipment and food to our hospitals; for ensuring our utilities worked and our trash was picked up. In so many ways, you play a vital role in the lives of our patients.

Your sacrifices – for staying home to flatten the curve and working hard to protect our community and slow the spread.

Your new normal – for learning how to “crisis school” your stranded students while balancing work and other responsibilities; finding unique ways to celebrate important milestones like birthdays, anniversaries and graduations; and quickly adapting to new norms like wearing masks in public places and resisting large-group gatherings.

Your kindness – from encouraging notes sent to coworkers on the front lines to your “can do” spirit; creativity to help one another; and willingness to change your patterns, wear masks, social distance and respect the directives of our state. Every small action you take supports our hardworking team and reminds them you have their backs during difficult times.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your phenomenal support. Stay safe. Stay healthy. But know that we are always here when you need us.

Sincerely,

Karla Perez
Regional Vice President
