The Valley Health System Is Top Company Fundraiser for American Lung Association’s SCALE THE STRAT Event

The Valley Health System was the top fundraiser among 18 companies for the American Lung Association® – Nevada’s Fight for Air Climb – SCALE THE STRAT event, raising $18,195. Desert Springs Hospital was the top team for fundraising, raising $14,815, while top individual fundraisers included Jim Tran, Desert Springs pharmacy director ($5,885) and Chris Loftus, CEO ($5,650).

“We are grateful for the generous support and leadership from The Valley Health System,” said Shannon Proctor, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “Thank you to all of the UHS staff members who participated in SCALE THE STRAT and every person who donated to the VHS teams.”

“I’m proud of our company’s commitment to this event,” said Karla Perez, Regional Vice President for Universal Health Services, overseeing the Nevada market. “Funds earned have a positive effect on everyone, from our patients to our family and friends who are affected by lung disease. Congratulations to the Desert Springs Hospital team for their hard work, and thank you to everyone who participated!”

The annual event, held at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod in Las Vegas, features 108 floors and 1,455 steps. Funds are used to support the American Lung Association and its focus on education, research and advocacy efforts around lung health, including smoking cessation and clean air initiatives. This year’s event raised $243,161, exceeding its original goal of $230,000.

New in 2022 is the Las Vegas Fight for Air Family Climb, which will be held June 12, 2022, at 8 a.m. at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin. This event features just over 1,200 steps for adults and just over 600 for youth.
